Synopsis: Starlight House has a new resident! Laura Holloway is
a shy young guitarist with little faith in her own abilities, so when Jem
and the Holograms ask them to play with her she isn't quite sure how to react.
She is preyed on at school by someone pushing drugs and develops a habit,
which Jerrica and the others have to do their best to help her break. Laura
never appears after this episode, so I don't know if she counts as a proper
Starlight girl, but I like to count her anyway. The drugs aside, in my mind
Laura is far more realistic in her approach to Starlight House than the attitudes
of some of the girls (and the chirpy brats at Haven House) - and it's a chance
to show some real depth in the whole foster family business. Having said
that, it's not a favourite episode of mine. Though it makes a point which
probably needed saying, it's not a "escape" kinda episode and there are a
lot of deeper themes and ideas in it.
