Truly Outrageous

(AKA The First Five Episodes)

Part One: The Beginning
Synopsis: After the death of Emmet Benton, his daughters Jerrica and Kimber find themselves in possession of Starlight House, (a home for foster girls), the Star Drive In and half of Starlight Music. After a row with Eric Raymond, the music company's new effective boss, and his new project, 'the Misfits', Jerrica discovers Synergy, a holographic computer designed and made in secret by her father and uses Synergy's powers to form a band of her own - Jem and the Holograms - to compete with the Misfits in a battle of the bands six months down the line. The prize is a movie contract and a fabulous mansion. Eric sends his man, Zipper, to 'make Jerrica nervous'. Meanwhile one of the Starlight girls, Ashley, starts to get herself into trouble.

Part Two: Disaster
Synopsis: After Zipper botches the break in at Starlight House, a dropped lantern starts a fire and the girls are left with nowhere to live. They get together at Howard Sands' house and after a run in with the Misfits they are allowed to stay in the mansion. They meet the Countess Danielle Du Voisin who invites them to a party on her yacht. The Misfits, who are not invited, gatecrash the party, almost causing a serious accident. The group meet Lin-Z Pierce, who introduces them in turn to Anthony Julian and they discuss the venue of their first music video. Ashley is told she must still raise $30 for the honour jar, and gets herself involved with the Misfits. Anthony falls in love with Shana.

Part Three: Kimber's Rebellion
Synopsis: Kimber begins to resent all the attention focused on Jem and allows Eric to convince her to walk out on the band - however a radio broadcast soon sets things right. The group go to Paris to film their video, where Kimber almost blows Jem's cover to Rio, and Zipper tries his best to wreck their plans. The group appear on the Lin-Z Pierce show, but the Misfits appear to sabotage things.

Part Four: Frame Up
Synopsis: After signing up to do the same venue in Las Vegas, the Misfits and the Holograms find themselves vying for the spotlight. Eric sets up a robbery to frame Jem and the Holograms, while the Misfits convince Ashley to be involved in their 'practical joke' which sees Aja trapped inside the luggage compartment of a coach. After the plan fails, Ashley hides from the Misfits, where she is found by Stormer. The two of them are witness to the whole frame up, and when Jem is arrested Ashley tells the police what she saw. Heavily disguised, Stormer backs up Ashley's story, leaving the Holograms free to go. Jem debates the pros and cons of telling Rio the truth about her identity.

Part Five: Battle of the Bands
Synopsis: Eric hires a private detective to find out Jem's real name. The detective discovers Synergy but the Holograms are quick to move her out of harm's way, to a secret room in Starlight Mansion. When Ashley comes to see the Misfits to return the money they gave her, Eric takes her prisoner. Pizzazz and Roxy shut her in a trunk backstage at the Battle of the Bands and though Stormer wants to free her she can't find the courage to stand out against her bandmates. Jem and the Holograms are imprisoned at the Star Drive In, but with Synergy's help manage to escape and win the Battle of the Bands.
