Dear Diary,
My artistic juices are really flowing at the moment!! I met Jewel's other
housemate today - Cynthia Benton - and she was so so nice to me. It's so
wonderful how everyone seems to trust in me, even though they don't know
me much yet. It's doing great things for my confidence and I'm having such
fun sketching pictures from the holograms that machine of Cynthia's father's
produced. It's helped such a lot to have real subjects and Cynthia promised
she wouldn't tell Topaz and the rest that I got out of bed at all. It bothers
me a little that they're so trusting, when I'm still hiding so much but then
again, I did make a brand new start when I left prison and rehab behind me,
so I don't see why I need to broadcast everything I've done wherever I go.
I'm a different Sadie now, so it will all work out okay. It's in the past.
The name Benton is kinda familiar to me, and when I was flicking through
some of the magazines Topaz gave me to work from I found some mention of
the Benton Family and their links to Starlight Music. I wonder if Cynthia
is a relation of theirs or if it's just a coincidence? Seems odd to me if
they are related that she chose to work for Phyllis Gabor and not her own
relatives, but I suppose it depends on the situation. Maybe there's something
I'm not seeing. Topaz has mentioned Cynthia more than once and I know they're
good friends, so perhaps that's it. Maybe blood isn't always thicker than
water.
One other thing bothers me a little bit, too. Much as I'm trying to
tell myself that it was my fevered brain playing games with me, I'm still
not sure that it was. I'm convinced that I saw that knife hit Cynthia straight
on the arm and I'm certain it would've gone pretty deep and caused a lot
of blood. Heck, I know enough about arm circulation now, I know where the
veins are! But she didn't even have a scratch on her and she certainly didn't
cry out in any pain. That was just strange to me, but I can't make any rational
sense of it, so I guess I probably did imagine it. After all, if it had
been me, I would probably have wound up shrieking and swearing, so I guess
the logical answer is that it didn't hit her after all, and it just looked
that way from where I was standing. My head is still muggy, after all.
Oh well. It doesn't matter much. The important thing is that Cynthia
is really nice and sweet and I like her a lot. If everyone in Los
Angeles is as nice as her and the others, I won't be homesick long. I can't
help thinking though about this meeting with Miss Gabor. I'm a lot better
now and I gather she's impatient, so I suspect it won't be long before I'm
there speaking to her. The more I hear about her the more frightened I am...please
let her like my work!
Please let her help me stay in LA!!
