E.m.u: non fiction written media

E.M.U: Song Book
I love this book, because I'm a music buff. Even though the score is only a single line and it's mostly all in bass clef, which I don't play in, it's still really neat to me that something like this exists. This is basically as it says, a Song Collection book involving basic music score for the E.M.U releases. It's not a complete collection, but it does include the live exclusive tracks like Tsuitenai, pictured. And it's just a really neat piece of E.M.U memorabilia. Or maybe I'm a music geek. Either way, I wish I had something like this for Fushigi Yuugi :P

I think the only tracks that aren't included (aside from the Sotsugyou M releases) are some of the really late ones like Oretachi no Sotsugyou.

The full lyrics to each of the songs featured are also printed in the back of the book.

E.M.U :Memorial Collection
This is maybe the number one non-music thing a fan of E.M.U should have on their "must have" list (if not on their shelves, LOL). Although this was produced in 1997 (quite a long time before the whole thing properly ended), it's a collection of interviews, pictures, etc relating to the boys (including some lovely pictures of them as small kiddies, which is too cute, LOL).

My own theory about this book is that E.M.U and Sotsugyou M may have ended in 1997 - or at least, that after the Equal tour, the idea may have been discussed. Certainly there weren't any actual live tours for the band after 1997. This contains artwork of the Sotsugyou and E.M.U boys by the original manga-ka for the Sotsugyou M manga, Sugisaki Yukiru. However, the "plus" manga and drama CDs came out beyond 1997, with a different manga-ka and the Sotsugyou M world certainly continued long towards the end of the century. So this is a goodbye volume long before the actual goodbye - and even before some of the albums were released!

Arisugawa Kei's reasons for prolonging his project are unknown - whether it was fan related, seiyuu related, or his own decision to carry on and even develop the spin-off GIZOKU theme. Either way, however, this is a really nice volume for fans regardless.
Some random pictures of the inside below. When I have some time, I intend to scan and/or translate some bits from this book, but right now if I'm doing any translation it's M manga or Weiss lyrics, so it's at the bottom of my to do list for the present. (I need more time and another set of brains...)
