As promised, the random snippetness
of my really awful writing over the past year.
These all got discarded for one reason or another. But I’m a sucker for
punishment and criticism and some brave folk said they wanted to see
them. So, in
effect, here they are:
The following are all
snippets of scenes that might have
made it into the story but I found a different or a better way to do
it. They
were all written at random, some of them with a specific story in mind
and
others not. This is the outtakes section, really!!

Oblivion: The story segments that never were!
The
following are
major edits made to story parts, or are bits of stories begun but not
finished
for whatever reason. I’m cringing as I write this. Really.
:S These are the bits that Washu
threw into subspace. You can decide for yourselves whether or not you
think
they should’ve been left there…
Hawk of Jurai
The original beginning
to the Hawk of Jurai
story, with a different introduction for Seiryo
(much
suckier, I warn you). Some of these
chapters did get
kept for the final story…but Seiryo’s
introduction/involvement was changed rather drastically! The original
title for
this story was False Goddess. But I
thought it sucked so I changed it. (I was then later asked
why, because Hawk of
Jurai didn’t seem to make sense. Am I the
only one
then who associates the Light Hawk Wings with an actual bird…and
Tsunami with
the hawk??)
Chapters one and two
Random scene: Discussing Seiryo
Kindred :
The original opening/plan
Actually I think this
version of Kindred would have worked
well in some ways. But I just didn’t have the time to think it all out
logistically. The real risk of it clashing with After the Rain was also
ever-present, although I’m really sorry that I had to drop this where I
did. In
truth a lot of real life things were also going on when I wrote this
story –
and I couldn’t devote enough brainpower to it to make it all work how I
wanted
even though I badly wanted to use Washu
and her past
to greater effect. I’m especially sorry that I didn’t manage to use the
flashback scene with Washu’s hearing and Manami Kurashida.
But in the end
I couldn’t find a way to do so :S
Z’s original fic incarnation was going to
be a little
bit different – in the end this was just a step too far. However, for
as much
as I wrote…here you go. As with Hawk of Jurai,
there
were bits and pieces of this salvaged for the eventual story Kindred.
Originally however this story was going to be called “Codename Ryoko”
and then, (as the title appears in this draft) – “Halcyon”.

Jurai’s Hope: The
Epilogue/Nozomi Story
This one will tease and annoy up to the sky, since there’s no way it can be finished now in its current form. This is largely because it was begun as an epilogue to Demon’s Exile and the subsequent stories mean that continuity for it no longer works. I may yet write the story I had in mind for Tenchi, Ryoko, Nozomi and Shigure et al. But the chances are that I won’t. Even so, this is the only appearance for Ayeka’s son Shigure in anything I’ve written. (There’s also some cute Ryoko/Tenchi stuff in here, imo!). Nozomi is a special character to me although I’m not quite sure why…;)

After The Rain: Part Three
I thought about
writing a part three for this but never got
around to it. In truth I had a lot of snippets and ideas for it but I
wasn’t
sure how to tie it together as regards timeline and continuity. It was
possible
– however difficult to do in context with stories like Eagle’s Prayer
and Hawk
of Jurai. So in the end, many of these got
ditched.
However, I’ll load them here. Some of these things, although never
actively
written about in any of the stories are alluded to – such as Clay’s
meeting
with Tokimi. ;)

Random snippets – story ideas I liked but never had the occasion to use.
Sasami and Kamidake
This scene was written about the Princess
and her
knight when Sasami reached eighteen. I
just thought it
was cute. There was never anywhere to use it in a story, but it was fun
nonetheless J
Kiyone’s family
I was originally planning to write a story about Kiyone and her family after the events of Hawk of Jurai. In the end, her post traumatic issues fit well into Demon’s Exile instead and I didn’t want to throw too many OCs into the blaze at once. I did, however, have a lot thought out for Kiyone’s family – and for what might happen if she ever brought Seiryo home.
There was also a plan at one point to write a SeiKiyo story beyond the end of Operation Eradicate’s events, involving pirates, Seiryo being an ass and Kiyone trying to work out what to do with a Juraian marriage proposal. Some of the incidents mentioned in these snippets relate directly to that story plan, which has probably been ditched (probably). I’m not posting all of those relevant snippets here, though.
