Scans from the 1987 inserts
(Insert 1987/2, identical on insert 1987/1)
This shows the Party Ponies (Twice as Fancy Ponies). The insert also had
Strawberry Fair's head on the front cover :)
The messed up name sheet from the 1987/2 insert. The Sundae Best ponies
came out late in 1987, and they did not appear on the first 1987 insert.
When they appeared on this one, three of the names were wrong (Sorbet Surprise
is shown as Cherry Berry, Chocolate Chip as Sorbet Surprise and Cherry Berry
as Chocolate Chip). Two of the comics from the same time frame also messed
up the names - however, by the time they appeared on the cover and inside
the 1990 MLP annual, the names had all been rectified. They were also known
as Sundae Best Ponies - I don't know what the Ice Cream Pony thing is about.
And some UK folk have said that they didn't come with clips here...um...is
this insert a complete screwup for the Sundae Bests?? :)
(Insert 1987/2, identical on insert 1987/1)
The Big Brothers were originally sold under this name of Adventure Boy
Ponies in the UK. Weirdly, when the three new boy ponies were added in 1988,
they were labelled as Big Brother Ponies (Source, Hasbro's listing - there
is no insert for 1988).
Princess Ponies (1987/2 insert, identical on 1987/1 insert). All are shown
with their correct hats (except that Aquamarine's should not be darker than
Sapphire's) and correct dragons.
