The Baby Bonnet School of Dance was another of the early playsets, famously featured in the introduction of My Little Pony the Movie, and sold with the endearing little ballerina, Baby Half Note. Though in the United States, the Dance School *appears* to have been sold only with the Beddy Bye Eyed version of this pony, in the UK I know for sure that it was sold with both versions, since I had the version with the regular eyed Baby Half Note brand new one Christmastime. My childood Baby Half Note, dressed in full ballerina regalia can be seen above (right), however the regular eyed Baby Half Note one of my best friends had brand new had purple eyes instead of aqua. I believe this version of Baby Half Note was later sold in the United States through mail order. Baby Half Note's introduction to the pony story world in the UK is, in my opinion, one of the best introductions any pony had over the full production of the My Little Pony comic. The story spread over more than one issue (all the parts to which were later reprinted in the big and highly popular Favourite Stories compilation book of 1988) and began with Baby Lucky and Spike's birthday, and a magic key. Locket, the collector of keys took the key and followed where it led her to a baby pony trapped on an island with six animal friends - the small animal creatures sold with the Baby Bonnet Dance School. In the UK they all had names: The rabbits were Hop and Jump, the bees Pandora and Iris, and the swans Lucinda and Yolande. Locket helped rescue the baby pony by using the magic key and she arrived in Dream Valley just in time to celebrate Baby Lucky and Spike's birthday. |
