Baby Buggy
I have vivid memory of, as a young girl, being highly envious of a girl at my school who had Baby Cuddles and her coveted Baby Buggy playset. It was something which, at least in my experience, most little pony girl wanted for their baby ponies and was copiously advertised in the My Little Pony comic as late as 1988 when it was finally withdrawn. A very popular idea!
In the United States it seems very straight forward that Baby Cuddles' baby buggy was sold initially with the regular eyed baby (right) and then with the beddy bye eyed baby from 1985 on (left). The United Kingdom issue is not so straight forward. I have no recollection of the buggy ever being advertised with the regular eyed version, however she appears on the box and even the latest issue (with the updated pony rainbow design of I believe '87), does not have the beddy bye eyed baby pictured on the box. Since both are in copious supply here, I can only assume both sets were sold in a similar pattern to the USA, but perhaps overlapping more. It is even possible both versions were introduced in 1984-5 and sold simultaneously until the playset was terminated. All I can say for sure is that the advertisment in the comic showed her with the "lullaby" eyes. Please note that the Buttons pictured in the ad (from the Non So Soft/Movie Star set) was not issued till 1987, so the advertisment in the comics dates from 1987, not before. (Hence my uncertainty  over the reg eyed pony issue).
The UK would never have another playset quite like the Baby Buggy, though the United States were quick to utilise the mould and concept once more in the later years for a totally different baby pony.
Baby Cuddles' character is quite easy to define - she was a BRAT. She cried, she screamed, she threw tantrums and was ponyland's equivalent to a spoiled newborn baby! However, despite her outbursts she could also be quite cute and the other ponies generally liked to push her in her buggy, regardless of her bad behaviour.
Quite a different persona from the semi-heroic actions of the animated series' Baby Cuddles in 'The Revolt Of Paradise Estate'!
