This Set MIP It's rather odd that, considering the fact the Sweetsteps
Ballerinas were never sold in the UK, the four Baby Ballerina Ponies would
go on to be produced and sold for the UK market as well as the markets
in Europe and the USA. Here at least they were sold on pastel aqua-green
cards with greenish borders, and came with a ribbon and a sweetie style
comb. The four babies had moulded leotards and ballet shoes, no symbol,
long hair to style and, of course, poseable legs so they could dance. :)
A popular gimmick, so, logically, fairly easy to find on the UK second hand
market at least. At the end of the My Little Pony line, these were one of
the sets that got shipped our way on foreign language card, also - I have
a Baby Soft Steps (Seidentanz) Mint on Card and the German style of card
matches the English ones I have in my folder from when I was younger. Picture
to come :) The ballerina babies did feature in the comics, though occasionally
their colours became slightly distorted.
All four of the ponies pictured on this page are from our childhood collection, so I apologise if one or two of them have rather wild looking manes or tails :) They've been with us a long time and suffered much in the process ;) |
