Adventure
Boy/Big Brother Ponies Known as 'Adventure Boy' Ponies here on the insert and Hasbro list of 1987, the first
set of Big Brother Ponies in the UK came out a bare few months before the
highly sought after Mountain Boy Ponies'
debut in the autumn. It's a fact that no other country in the world had
quite as many adult boy ponies sold as the UK (and consequently any country
who followed to any degree the UK issue program). It's probably clear that
there were name variances with Big Brother Ponies between the UK and the
USA, even to the extent of the set name (though the next year's issue would
see the UK adopt the term Big Brother Pony also, hence my use of it here).
Tracks, Tug, Trucker and First Base were known in the States as Steamer,
Salty, 4-Speed and Slugger respectively, creating intense confusion for
British kids watching Somnambula (see capture above!).
As soon as my sister finds Tracks' and Trucker's accessories, I'll retake their pictures...:-/ Tracks should have a purple train driver's hat, whilst Trucker has a yellow construction worker hat and a dark purple bandana, as you can see from the screen capture :) |
