Now that I have a domain to properly host it - there are no more adverts, and I have way more space to play with in terms of images and whatnot. Consequently there is a lot of stuff to add to this site over the next few months!!
There are several websites which deal with My Little Pony identification, but, back when I first built the first draft of this site, there were no pages which dealt comprehensively with UK pony info. I believe that this is still largely the case for, whilst many sites now delve into the weird and wonderful world of variants, and there are many excellent sites which give general MLP overviews, very few sites have tackled the issue of My Little Pony's UK issue - stuck in the middle of the American "canon" and the variant "oddities." This forgotten territory has always been the focus of my web-building for, as a native of the UK, I grew up with these ponies and they are still very dear to me now as an adult collector. Originally my site dealt only with those ponies which were deemed exclusive to these shores, but even this caused confusion and misunderstanding, since many collectors drew the belief that we had all of the ponies sold in the United States, and then more. Equally, exclusives in Europe were not always sold in the UK and vice versa, so in an attempt to clarify all of these points, I have expanded the site to include as many of the store-sold regular ponies that exist, putting where they were sold, and adding more detail on the storybook, nostalgic side of ponyland in the United Kingdom, as well as the cold hard pony facts. Consequently I hope that this site will be a detailed and reliable resource on UK pony information. Over the years things have come to my notice which suggests that the UK's pony line is not as straight forward as it seemed (and trust me, that wasn't very straight forward). The UK have been a "dumping ground" for surplus stock, not only from Europe but from America. Some sets, such as the Candy Canes and Brush and Grows seem to have appeared here in both UK and US packages, for example. My site, therefore, judges a pony as being sold here if it was done so officially, though if I know anything about surplus stock I've mentioned it along the way.

When I first set out to tackle the issue of My Little Pony within the United Kingdom, I had the naive and airy fairy idea that my memory would suffice in terms of evidence. However, five years online has taught me much much more about the technicalities and details surrounding ponies here that I never before realised. The emergence of an insert I did not know existed adds new evidence to the Paradise Estate conundrum, and information from all over the UK and Europe has helped to build my site and has taught me a lot more how to fill in the gaps in my memory. I would like to take this moment to thank everyone - especially those collectors in the UK who have dredged their childhood memories and possessions - for everything you have done to help me with my site. The pictures, information and support have been more helpful than you know, and with any luck has taken the scrapbook further towards it's goal of being a complete guide to My Little Pony in the UK. It's as much your site now as my site, and I'm very grateful to everyone who's helped me out - no matter how tiny or insignificant the information might appear to be!!

There are still many details I may have mis-remembered or overlooked, and if anyone has any information they would like to add, please get in touch via the email button! I am especially interested in MOC pictures of ponies on UK style cards, on information about accessories or issues, or prototype information.

My own information is based primarily on Hasbro produced leaflets, advertisements and other paraphernalia, added to my own memory and artefacts from my childhood. In addition, in September 1995 Hasbro UK kindly sent me a list of the ponies produced in the United Kingdom and I have referred to that on occasion as a final judgement as to whether a pony was part of Hasbro's UK line or not. I will not copy this information for anyone, so please do not ask me to. It's copyright belongs to Hasbro and I'm lucky to have it at all :)
I have also used comics, stories and other merchandise to give some information on ponies that is different from simply a decription and list of accessories, but a sense of who that pony was to kids in the United Kingdom. Ponies were always more to the people who played with them than just a vinyl 'pocket money' toy, and that's why this site deals with the personalities as well as the products. A key source in compiling this information is the Fact File...which you will find mentioned at several intervals. For anyone who doesn't know, this is a small blue binder issued through mail order in the UK in 1987/8 and contains pictures and stories for 125 little ponies :) More about the fact file can be found at the MLP Media section.
