First Tooth Baby Ponies
Another gimmick! These baby ponies were supposed to be the next level
of 'grown up', since they had panties instead of nappies and drinking cups
instead of baby bottles. All of them also had a moulded on white tooth to
indicate their, erm, advanced dental development, one assumes. All of the
baby ponies had mothers in previous years, but Baby Fifi had no horn, unlike
her So Soft mother. There was also, however,
another First Tooth pony who belongs with these girls as far as the fact she
belonged to 1987 and had a tooth was concerned. Baby Crumpet (left - gold
with gold mane and tail, teapot and cup symbol) was sold with the reissue
of the Pony Purse idea - a new purse for a new baby pony. For some obscure
reason, she seems to be sought after :| Sadly I don't have her purse on hand
to photograph, but I know it differed from that with baby Sleepy Pie. You may have noticed some abject
confusion in my mind about Baby Crumpet - this is largely because she was
never sold in the United Kingdom, and so I am not entirely sure how she was
packaged or promoted :) The first tooth poses were reused for several later
sets, but aside from these seven, there was also Baby Night Cap, who featured
in the American issue Slumber Party Set.
