Magic Message Ponies

Magic Message Ponies In my opinion, the Magic Message Ponies were a neat idea with a fatal flaw. Though given heat sensitive symbols which, when rubbed or heated, revealed a secret message, the sad fact is these ponies are found all too often wih scratched or defunct symbols. Oddly enough, Magical Breeze, known in the USA rather unoriginally as 'Windy', was sold through a pony points offer . The offer was that children could send 20 horseshoe points (and people say 15 was bad for Dazzle!!) or £2.95 plus postage to Hasbro and receive this Magic Message pony in return. The offer was in 1987, before the Magic Message ponies hit stores, and Hasbro even mentioned that Magical Breeze was 'not available in any store' on the insert. Perhaps her success inspired them to bring the rest of the set here! Magical Breeze was also offered later through a similar offer, in 1991, at the close of the club. In the stories, Magical Breeze took over from Skyflier as the kite lover, whilst Mirror Mirror had a magic mirror and Cloud Dreamer a special dragon friend. In the US, Teddi was called 'Cuddles' and my most vivid comic memory of her involved her trying to save a group of baby bears who had been turned into soap. Gripping stuff!
