Merry-Go-Round Ponies
THIS SET: UK ISSUE MIP

I suppose it was only a matter of time before the magic of the fairground and the appeal of My Little Pony would become intertwined. These six ponies were all earth ponies, decked out in fancy carousel capes that were moulded to their bodies. In stories, these capes were said to have magical powers. Like 1988's Sweetberry Ponies, the Merry-Go-Round Ponies were a 4/6 set for the UK, with Diamond Dreams and Sparkler not being sold here. I believe Tassels was called 'Tossles' in the USA. If my memory serves me correctly, the Merry Go Round ponies were first introduced in the UK pony comic through a multi-part story named Twirler and the Whispering Whirligig. The final part of the story revealed that the whispers Twirler heard were actually the voices of the Merry Go Round ponies trapped inside. (I hope I got that right...) I have been told by a couple of people that Tassels was called Tossles in the United States, but I am honestly not sure if that is the case. All I know is that in this country at least, her name has always been Tassels :)
For some odd reason the Spanish and German boxes for these ponies seem to have purple borders, not blue. I know for a fact, though, that in the UK Flower Bouquet had a blue bordered box, as I was lucky enough to see one at the recent pony meet :D
