THIS SET: UK ISSUE MIP Okay. These win my award for weirdest ponies ever produced
:-p. These girls (known as precious pocket ponies in the USA) came with
bizarre 3 dimensional symbols, attached to which was a small item on a
string. Mm. Sounds weird, I know, but it's hard to describe, bear with
me. Whatever the item on the string was related directly to the symbol
itself, and the ponies introduced 2 new poses along the way to deal with
this. Right. I'm gonna let the pictures say the rest ;)
It's important to note two things about these girls, apart from the fact they were sold all over. Firstly, the symbols easily break or come off or lose the 'thing-on-a-string'. Secondly, the names in the US were as follows: Wriggle Pocket = Bubblefish
Singing Pocket = Sweet Pocket Hopping Pocket = Bunny Hop Jingle Pocket = Li'l Pocket For some bizarre reason, Singing Pocket appeared in pony comics as a unicorn :-p. I had Wriggle Pocket new and even at the time I remember thinking these girls were weird - well, if they appear odd to a girl of eight or nine, who'd spent the previous seven years of her life collecting and playing with plastic rainbow coloured ponies, then come on, they MUST have been pretty odd!! |
