It is important to note that the pony friends were NOT
sold in the UK in any shape or form or at any time. Equally, the well projected
myth that the supposed doll companions in Molly's
mould were sold with the UK issue of the friends is ENTIRELY untrue. How
could we have the dolls when we didn't even have the friends themselves?
It's only a matter of what Windwhistler would call Pony Logic:-p.
In fact, the only existing images of the said dolls appear in Hasbro documentation of unknown origin, and Hasbro's catalogue for the UNITED STATES' projected issue, along with the mythical First Tooth Baby Sundance. (Thanks to Krista Gowenlock for this information). It would seem, therefore, that, quite apart from being some rare foreign variation, the dolls were intended to be part of an American issue, but were scrapped at the last minute for whatever reason. As for the UK, there was never any plan so far as I can ascertain for the Pony Friends to be issued here. There is a distinct, not to mention extremely frustrating trend to label everything that isn't understood as 'normal US issue' as being UK, but fairly often there is a far more clearcut solution that has nothing to do with our pony issue. Just in case anyone isn't sure, Kingsley is a lion, Creamsicle a giraffe, Spunky a camel and Zig Zag a Zebra. :) |
