Everything
I know about these ponies has been gleaned in fragments and bits and pieces
and put together in my brain by some careful investigation. None of these
ponies were ever sold in the UK, however they were definitely a part of
Austrian and German issue, even appearing advertised in the pony comics
there. As I understand it they date from 1987 and these five, plus Moonstone or
'Mondschein' comprised the set of six. As you can see by the MOC image
to the left (Thanks to $toulouse for the loan of this image!), they came
with star brushes, combs and ribbons like other rainbow ponies, but the
brushes lacked the rainbow stickers of their counterparts.
It's no secret that these girls are pretty sought after. Nightlight and Raindrop have no equivalent pony, but Himmelstanzer, Hummelchen and Sternenglanz are all based around or kin to other existing rainbow ponies. Himmelstanzer appears to be an earthling version of Skydancer, Sternenglanz (Thanks to JLM for the image!) is based on Starshine but in Surprise's pose and with different hair colours (these can be seen on Himmelstanzer's card), and Hummelchen has painted butterflies, though there seems to be only minimal other differences between her and Flutterbye. Mondschein appears to have a painted or metallic symbol to fit the trend! See below to see the accessories for others from this set. Thanks to LD for donating the pictures of the four below German ponies on card!! You can also see from these pictures how Raindrop looks with the larger (German) symbol :D |
