The Rollerskates ponies are one of the most amusing and bizarre
My Little Pony sets of the last few years. Made with a pull-back mechanism
so that they could actually 'skate' across a shiny surface, they all stood
in a slight adaptation of Posey's pose and came with their own sunglasses
and CD walkman accessories. Although their manes were long and had a coloured
streak, their tails were short to stop them getting caught under the wheels.
This set featured a new version of the Seven
Character pony Melody, only now she had moulded on skates and a yellow
streak in her hair. In one of the UK stories Melody is shown wearing these
skates and she is also featured on a UK clock. Each pony is shown wearing
her correct accessories in the picture - please note that Hip Hop should
also have a pair of sunglasses.
All Rollerskates ponies had the same story and the same design of box. The only difference between the packages was a small rainbow shaped sticker on the front bearing the pony's name (see on MIB image below, front left hand side below the Hiphop graphic's foot!) |
