Summer
Wing Ponies With the flutter ponies long gone, Hasbro decided 1988 was
the year to introduce some new diminuitive flying ponies onto the scene.
Baby pony size, with plastic butterfly wings, these little 'summerwing' ponies
had insects and birds as their theme (a good way to tell them apart at
first glance from the next year's Windy Wing
ponies!) The Summer Wing Ponies proved Hasbro had got the delicate wing
problem more or less sussed by 1988, since the butterfly wings proved sturdier
and far more are found secondhand with their wings still intact.
