Boy, what a mouthtful! Yep, after the success of the original,
if rather boring Sweetheart sister ponies,
Hasbro decided it was time for MORE. This time there were only four in the
set, each with a twice as fancy glittered symbol and tinsel in their manes
and tails. Each still had an earring (please note that Bright Night is shown
here with a substitute earring!) and came with a glittery pick like those
belonging to the Princesses. Though I
think they were sold on card in North America, in the UK they definitely
came in boxes. Unless my memory really fails me, I think the boxes might
have been blue, but it's a long time since the Christmas Day when I got my
Starflash, so I can't be sure. They also had ribbons but I really don't
remember what these were like. One name variation to report here, Moonshimmer
got named Twinkler in the USA. All four of these were sold in the UK - I
remember Moonshimmer being particularly hard to find (this I know because
I wanted her like mad as a kid and could never find her!)
In the comics, Starflash went through a strange phase of being white with dark pink hair and hearts, but I've never heard of this being anything more than just a weird artistic blip. Certainly I've never seen or heard of any variations for this set. |
