Twinkle Eyed Ponies
THIS SET: UK ISSUE MIP

The Twinkle Eyed ponies, with their multicoloured manes and tails and sparkling jewel eyes were something fresh and different on the scene in 1985 and, thankfully, these six were sold everywhere. The set is notable for one thing in particular, which is the first name variation between USA and UK for a pony (Unless you count the Sea Pony Wave Breaker/Wave Dancer which is as yer unproven beyond all doubt, though extremely likely). The names beneath the pictures for all six ponies are correct names - for the United Kingdom issue. However in the United States 'Sweetie' was called 'Sweet Stuff' (causing major confusion for me as a kid watching Sweet Stuff and the Treasure Hunt!!). Personally I like Sweetie better, I mean, what pony wants to be called 'Stuff' anyway? LOL :)
As has become the pattern, the set had two unicorns, two earths, two pegasi. Whizzer is noted in the Fact File as being the fastest little pony in all of ponyland, whilst in the pony comics every November Fizzy was sure to celebrate 'Fizziwhizz night', a pony equivalent of Guy Fawkes Night on November 5th :) Masquerade had a reputation for disguises and Gingerbread and Sweetie were the gourmet chef types. Somehow the two go together very nicely :)
It's interesting to note also that Fizzy was just as clumsy in the UK stories as she was in the American ones. However Galaxy did not have the power to light the way with her horn so much as general unicorn magic, and she was often found stargazing :)
