THIS SET: UK ISSUE MOC The Tropical Ponies were some of the brightest coloured
ponies in ponyland. And BOY were they gonna cause total confusion to anyone
and everyone who signed online to buy them second hand! Okay, this needs
some reading. Please note that the names used beneath the pictures are NOT
the wrong way about. They are the correct names for these ponies IN
THE UK (which is the point of this site, really ;)). And just in
case you're a Brit who's tuned in and hasn't got a clue what the US names
for the above Hula Hula and Sailaway are, well, it's like this. Hula Hula
(as above) is called Pina Colada in the USA, whilst Sailaway (as above) is
known as...erm...Hula Hula. Ook then.
In a way, I think that the UK way of doing it carries more logic. (And no I'm not biased! Well...not very, anyway...) Our 'Hula Hula' has swaying palm trees as her symbol, whilst the pony with the boat is logically called 'Sailaway'. If anyone wants to know how I know which pony is who here, I'm basing my naming on the MLP comics, on Sailaway's backcard and, for the names themselves, on Hasbro's list. Yes, I know, it's very muddling and enough to give anyone a headache, isn't it? But nevertheless it's a salient point. The other two ponies, Summer Heatwave and Surfing Days have, IMO, very cool names in the UK. Sadly, in the USA they're called Tootie Tails (erm, what?) and Sea Breeze (yes, THAT name again) respectively. Tragic! If you hadn't already guessed, all four ponies were sold in the UK ;) |
