Unicorn Ponies
Like Medley and Firefly, these four ponies were omitted from the United Kingdom line. Hasbro UK did not begin to take My Little Pony into it's own hands until 1984, and up until then the UK's line of My Little Pony was a (very diluted) imitation of the American one, with key characters absent, despite their frequency in story books.
The first unicorns set out a pattern that later unicorns would copy:- a glittery symbol and a streak of a second colour in their hair. A certain mystique was also given to them in UK stories, for Moondancer was said to be able to light the way (note, not Galaxy as in the American cartoon!), Twilight was shrouded in a strange mist and was rarely seen, and Glory was known for her Unicorn wisdom. Why,therefore, Sunbeam inherited the mantle of the party giver is beyond me!
Moondancer's story card from her US issue gives a hint of a naughtier pony, imprisoning Cotton Candy for some misdeed.
