1992:

GOOD WEATHER,
THE HOLIDAY PONY

Yellow earth pony with blue mane and tail, smiling orange sun symbol

This was the third set sold in the UK featuring an array of play accessories for a particular scene or event. Unlike Sweet Clover and Rosette, who never made it into the Pony Comic, Good Weather was featured quite considerably, and her key purpose was to bring good weather to wherever she travelled!

There has been a lot of confusion about her issue over the years. Initially known by the name "Turista" online (which may or may not be her Spanish name), it took a long while to establish that this was her real identity. Hasbro also had a hand in the confusing, because, on inserts, Good Weather is shown in the standing pose that would later be used by adult boy ponies - whereas when she was actually sold, she was in a different mould and with more aqua hair.

GOOD WEATHER (1991/2 UK insert) shown in different pose.

Despite this, the accessories pictured on the insert were pretty much correct, including the colour of hair ribbon shown. Just the pony was wrong! Her name was not given on the insert, which also added to the naming confusion. She was usually sketched in the comic with her mane in a long braid, suggesting that the above prototype image was the one provided to the comic illustrators. She is also drawn in this way on her box.

In spite of this, the comic did not have any confusion about her identity!

GOOD WEATHER (UK My Little Pony Comic)

Good Weather came with a parasol (blue stand, pink and white umbrella, a blue bucket with a pink handle, a pink spade, a pink fish comb, a pink starfish, an orange and yellow ball, a purple stereo, a clear pink bag with yellow towel and two pink glasses. She also has an orange ribbon, though it isn't visible in this picture.
