Jangles and Tangles are something of an enigma to me. Aside from perpetually getting them confused (but I promise, the labelling above IS the correct one!), I'm still trying to work out what reason Hasbro had for dropping them from their proposed 1987 UK line.

Though they appeared in the UK catalogue for this year, and consequently on the list that Hasbro sent me in 1995, Jangles and Tangles are not pictured on the box that Sniffles and Snookums and Nibbles and Dibbles were eventually released in, and they have no part to play in any of the inserts, comics or the Fact File, which did include the first Newborn Twins. In fact, they disappeared without a trace.

Obviously, the original reason for including them was to allow a set of Earth Newborn Ponies alongside the Pegasus and Unicorn sets. Thanks to their withdrawal, however, the first earth newborn baby ponies did not appear in the UK until the following year.

As yet, I can find no explanation for why these twins were dropped. If anyone has any further information on them and their almost-UK release, please, get in touch!

Just to be difficult, Tangles' hair is meant to be white, not pale pink - so in this case there's no fading!
