1985: Unicorn and Pegasus Ponies

POWDER

Lavender purple unicorn with white mane and tail (red streak in mane), glittering silver snowflakes symbol

I always loved Powder. In the fact file she was mischievous, magically building snow-copies of places like Dream Castle to confuse her pony friends. In the comics she would always make an appearance with Snowflake come the winter, and so I would associate her with Christmas, even though she was not an official Christmas pony.

Powder was also one of the ponies who made an appearance in the second My Little Pony special - Escape From Catrina. Though her appearance was limited, she did play a part in an escapade with a giant snowball (long story) and she modelled the pony outfit My Valentine/Hearts and Candy in the end 'Dressed Like A Dream' song video (kissing Spike and embarrassing him hopelessly!)

She was never sold in the UK and was never re-released in any other edition but this one. She had an extensive run as a comic character in the UK without ever appearing on store shelves, making her a popular acquisition among UK collectors when first starting out!

Powder, along with a mixture of 1983 and 1984 Unicorns and Pegasi (some with variations) was sold in parts of Europe, specifically Sweden and possibly other Scandinavian countries, on a style of card that obviously came right out of the UK office. It was a card used for export, however, and the ponies were never sold here.
