1987: Princess Ponies and Attendants

PRINCESS AQUAMARINE

Aqua earth pony with pale pink mane and tail (gold tinsel), silver heart jewelled medallion symbol

Princess Aquamarine was the dreamer of the Princess Ponies. Her head was always - literally -in the clouds as she imagined romance and illusion everywhere. A notoriously gentle little pony, her constant daydreams kept her attendant, Prickles in a state of constant consternation - for he never knew what his Princess might do next!

Observant people may notice that the symbol on my Aquamarine appears to have a different colour gemstone to that of LadyG's beautiful boxed pony to the right. I've heard of many examples of variant gems in Princess Ponies, though I'm not sure how common or rare such variations are - just that they do exist!

Aquamarine's hair is that annoying but beautiful pale pink that has a penchant for fading in bright sunlight. Consequently, any white-haired Aquamarines are NOT variations, but damaged.

CHEERY the BUSHWOOLIE
(N. American release attendant)

In North America, Princess Amber was called Princess Serena. She was sold with Cheery, one of two pink bushwoolies. Her other accessories also were different, though in the UK her damsel hat was definitely light purple with silver hearts and teardrops, and gold gilt-edged ribbons. In the North American issue, I believe her hat was aqua with silver hearts and tears and pink ribbons.
