1987: Newborn Twin Ponies

RATTLES & TATTLES

RATTLES

TATTLES

RATTLES: White newborn unicorn with yellow mane and tail, yellow rabbit symbol. RIGHT FOOTFORWARD, HEAD TURNED.
TATTLES: White newborn unicorn with yellow mane and tail, yellow rabbit symbol. LEFT FOOT FORWARD, HEAD TILTED UP.

If you are one of those collectors who has serious issues telling apart poses, then this is the nightmare set for you. Rattles and Tattles were one of two identical twin sets sold in 1987 -though they were never sold in the UK and are possibly the most difficult twinset to find in good condition these days.

The below image shows them with their confirmed accessories and original box (I purchased this set from a collector who had originally opened the package to display them)

RATTLES & TATTLES with ACCESSORIES

There is no Hasbro-given rule to telling twins apart. There is no firm canon way of knowing who is Rattles and who is Tattles. But, based on the other twin sets that use these poses and how their naming generally works, collectors as a rule name them as above. Rattles is the twin with the head turned and right leg forward, and Tattles is the twin whose head is tilted up and who has her left foot forward. The reason I include this on the page - despite it not being official - is that, if you only have one twin and you're looking for the other, it makes working out a trade a whole lot more simple!
