1984: Adult Sea Ponies *UK Edition*

SEASPRAY

Yellow adult sea p0ny with pink mane. Purple Clam Shell stand.

Seaspray seems to always cause an unecessary amount of confusion. UK and other collectors alike are forever confusing her with her North American second-set cousin, "High Tide", because both ponies are yellow and pink and have similar coloured shells.

However, there is a very easy and blatantly obvious way of telling them apart (as can be seen by loading High Tide's page ;)) Seaspray is an original set Sea Pony. She has no streak of colour in her hair, but she is in the original, face forward pose. Her body and hair colours are also darker in shade than High Tide's - Seaspray's hair is more a match to Bow Tie than Posey - and her seashell is vividly purple, rather than lavender.

Seaspray herself was the only truly different pony released with the UK line. This might have been why she panned out as something of a leader when she made her few but significant appearances in the pony comic. For some odd reason she had a boat - what a sea pony needs with a boat is anyone's guess - and she'd quite often be out there on the waves, sailing it. Sea Ponies were all always great friends with the earth pony Seashell and a mermaid called Miranda, too.

Oddest of all, however, Seaspray and her other UK counterparts are the only ponies from early years entirely omitted from the pony factfile. Why this is is unknown.
