1987: Flutter Ponies

TROPICAL BREEZE

Blue flutter pony with red mane and tail, pinkish purple flamingo symbol, irridescent wings (often missing).

Tropical Breeze.

I spent most of my childhood trying to work out what the heck it was she had as a symbol :S When you're five years old and trying to figure out what a purplish blob has to do with tropical breezes, it can be quite confusing. But I digress.

Tropical Breeze, as I remember her, was a fairly sensible flutter, who was always willing to help out if she was needed. There was nothing remarkable about her, exactly, but she was a "nice" character. Though Flutter Ponies lived in Flutter Valley, they were not reticent or shy in the way that they were in the animated series, and would often be involved in stories with non-flutter ponies. PLENTY of integration in the pony comic world!

As with the first set, all these ponies had "poems" (if they can be called that) as backcard stories. These are also repeated in the fact file. Tropical Breeze's was as follows:

"Flutter Ponies bring good luck,
No matter what life brings,
And when you need a helping hand,
Tropical Breeze flutters her wings."
