1988: Brush 'n' Grow Ponies

TWISTY TAIL

Blue earth pony with red-orange, white, green and yellow mane and tail, yellow and white brush and comb symbol.

Hasbro seem to have had some indecision where Twisty Tail was concerned. Though the very first 'sneak preview' photograph of the set in club memorabilia showed her in the same pose as Lollipop and Love Melody, when the set came out she turned out to be in the same mould as Pretty Vision - the walking pose.

Not that it was unusual for Hasbro to change their minds about poses and styles in mid-production. The odd thing about it is that, in the North American release, Twisty Tail did have the Love Melody pose and not the walking pose. Why a completely new version was made for the European market is as yet unclear. All I do know for sure is that we had the one shown above and the North American line had the one shown below:

TWISTY TAIL: NORTH AMERICAN EDITION

Since some boxed North American Brush 'n' Grow ponies did make it to the UK at some point, it is possible that some of the North American version are floating around this country. However, in my experience, Twisty Tail is one of the harder ponies to find from the set anyway.

Twisty Tail, like many of the ponies in comic incarnation had a special talent - she would catch drops of rain as they ran off the rainbow and use them to give her hair a special rainbow rinse.
