Ever since he
first arrived in California, Robin Sheppard has kept the Los Angeles
press guessing about who and where he has really come from. Secretive
and sardonic, Robin repels people as easily as his music attracts them,
and many folk still whisper that the man from smalltown Arkansas is
cursed.
But Robin is fighting demons of his own, as he finds himself thrown
into the whirling Los Angeles music scene. When one of the local
newspapers brands him a murderer, everyone waits for Misfits Music's
staunch denial - but when no such denial comes, the musical world
begins to wonder if there is a more sinister past to Robin Sheppard
after all.
Meanwhile, Sylva is beginning to establish her relationship with Logan
Matthews, confident that at long last she has found someone with whom
she can truly click and have a good time. Though her affections for
Logan are growing ever stronger, she is thrown off base when her old
friend Jack Miller has a confession to make. And then, when Jack's
world is thrown upside down by a crisis, Sylva has to make a difficult
decision.
Can she be there for Jack and Courtenay...even if it means losing Logan
forever?
CREDITS
Having never visited any of America
myself, and wary of falling into stereotypes, I want to credit my
friend Karen, who lives in the south USA, for her help in vetting
Robin's background and vocabulary, in an attempt to make the story as
believable as possible :) Thank you Uni ;) Your input is much
appreciated. Carrowville *is* based on data I gathered on a particular
small town in Arkansas, but the name has been changed to prevent any
offence being caused ;) And nope...I'm not telling you which small town!
Robin Sheppard's character, story and
background were inspired a great deal (oddly enough!) by a song by
Corey Taylor, called 'Bother'. It's the sort of song I could imagine my
boy singing about his own life...so credit where credit is due!
