1994:

SWEETIE BABY PONIES

The Sweetie Babies resurrected the old theme of having a pattern all over your body, first popularised in 1987 by the Party/Twice as Fancy Ponies, although there was no miniature representation on their cheeks. Ironically, one of the ponies in this set shared her name with one of those ponies: Lollipop! They also had two-tone manes, but only one solid colour in their tails.

SWEETIE BABY PONY CARD FRONT (UK CARD) SHOWING HAIRCLIP

Each baby pony came with a hair clip which was miles too big for the baby pony, and was intended to be worn by the pony's new "mummy" instead.Baby Candy's clip was two yellow sweets, Baby Liquorice had, logically, Liquorice Allsorts in blue, and Baby Lollipop, also logically, had a pink lollipop in a similar style to those smaller clips favoured by the Candy Cane ponies. The card actually shows Lollipop sketched with hers in her hair, but from the photo on the corner, you can see that, really, it's almost as big as her! The clips are extremely hard to find on the second hand market, because they easily get mixed up in doll or hair accessories.

The Sweetie Babies are among the harder to find exclusive ponies in the UK, and were never sold in North America. In fact, at the end of My Little Pony, Hasbro UK still had Sweetie Babies among their surplus stock, indicating that their distribution may have been cut short or not completed. All the ponies in this set were earth ponies, but Baby Lollipop featured the year's unexpected new baby pony pose!
