Baby Lucky
Blue baby boy pony (ringed hooves) with blue mane and tail (mane cut short on purpose), purple horseshoe symbol.
Baby Lucky was one of the few mail order ponies actually released in the UK! Whilst in North America he was some relation of the first Satin 'N' Lace, in the UK he had nothing to do with weddings at all. In fact, he was marketed as the very first baby boy pony in Ponyland (and he was!), being introduced in 1986.
In the comics, Baby Lucky played a major role. He was the baby who first discovered the Mountain Boy Ponies, by visiting Misty Mountain on a cold and stormy night. He had a special magic trick that he didn't even know about - he'd click his heels and say, happy go lucky, and odd things would happen that he couldn't often explain. His closest friend was Majesty's attendant Spike the baby dragon, and this friendship endured for a long time. He also shared a birthday with Spike and with Baby Half Note, who chose to have her birthday that day when she arrived in Ponyland.
Baby Lucky was sent to lucky new owners in a brown cardboard box, and he was issued with a white moon and stars comb, a purple bowtie (pictured) and a little letter of introduction from Megan (shown below):
BABY LUCKY's LETTER OF INTRODUCTION (United Kingdom, 1986)
I apologise for the worn state - this insert has been with me 20 years now!
As the first baby boy pony, Baby Lucky had cropped hair of about an inch or less in length. This is not a child going scissor happy, but intentional as part of marking his gender. If you look at the sketch on the letter of introduction, you can see that he was drawn here too with raggedy, cropped hair!
