1983:Rainbow Ponies

SKYDANCER

Yellow pegasus with dark pink, yellow, green and blue mane and tail, glittering green gulls symbol

Skydancer was the properly yellow Rainbow Pony from the first year, and her name proved to be a popular one - as it was later re-used for another pony further down the line. Even more obscure than Starshine in the UK comic stories, it's difficult to pin down Skydancer's personality, though the Fact File tells us that she was the 'best dancer of all the ponies'. I'm sure that Gypsy would have had something to say about that, not to mention the copious ballerina ponies!

In the German Rainbow Pony set, there was a pony based on Skydancer. Himmelstänzer (literally Heaven or Sky Dancer) was an earth pony rather than a pegasus, but shared enough characteristics with the 1983-4 issue pony to make them identifiable as from the same root.
