1984: Adult Sea Ponies

WAVEBREAKER
(a.k.a WAVEDANCER)

As WaveBREAKER: Salmon pinkish adult sea p0ny with aqua blue mane. Yellow Clam Shell stand (UK).

Just to totally muddle collectors for all time to come, Wavebreaker, or WaveDANCER as she was called in North America, had a dual issue. She is the only Adult Sea Pony to be sold in both the UK and North America, which is going some, you have to admit!

There has always been much confusion as to whether or not Wavebreaker and Wavedancer are the same pony, or two different ones. My investigations into the subject have always indicated that the pony herself was the same, but the shells and accessories were different. I don't actually know what loose accessories the pony had in either North America or the UK, but I do know that the shell colour varied widely.

Pictured above is Wavebreaker as her UK release dictates - in the yellow clam shell. This shell is exclusive to her UK issue and was not sold in North America with any pony from either of the two Adult Sea Pony sets.

As WaveDANCER: Salmon pinkish adult sea p0ny with aqua blue mane. Purple Clam Shell stand (N America). Accessories: Blue shell brush and comb, lavender ribbon (Thanks to KitKatVintage for this information!)

In North America, under her "Wavedancer" identity, the pony was sold with a purple shell (pictured above). This shell was also sold with Seaspray in the United Kingdom release.

NB: The pony pictured in both photographs is the same pony and any colour variations in the images are to do with lighting and not body tone :)
