1991: Glowing Magic Ponies

HAPPYGLOW

Peachish orange earth pony with blue and white striped mane and tail, three blue party hats symbol, orange hearts and yellow stars

As with other ponies in this set, Happyglow comes with built in variations to confuse and dazzle collectors respectively. Not quite as bad as Dazzleglow and Starglow, Happyglow has her own alternative charms.

The pony shown at the top of the page is my sister's childhood Happyglow, which she got here in the UK, on UK backcard (which we still have), so I know 100% her provenance. As you can see from the picture, her body tone is fairly translucent, and the shade of blue in her hair is very clearly a blue, rather than an aqua blue. I am of the general opinion that most Happyglow ponies in the UK were, in fact, sold with this very blue shade in their mane, although without seeing every single one ever sold, it's hard to prove.

My Happyglow I acquired second-hand, and, unfortunately, I don't remember where she came from!

HAPPYGLOW: VERSION 2

She is also fairly translucent, and maybe a slightly different shade of peachy orange. Although her hair streaks are not as aqua as Dazzleglow's can sometimes be, they are nevertheless a more aqua shade of blue and lighter in tone. These are uniform across her mane and tail and unlikely to be fading.

A comparison between the two can be seen below:

The variations can be subtle, and sometimes her body is more transparent than the one pictured. I don't think there are any drastic Happyglow variations, but I live in anticipation of being proven wrong :)
