The Meadowsweet Family were the 'rural' or 'farmbased' family from the set. In the cartoon episode, they were cousins of a made up character called "Teddy", who lived on a farm somewhere in what can only be described as Middle America. Teddy takes his 'girlfriend' Sweetheart along with him for the ride, sparking off a lot of jealousy between him and his cousin Corny(and a rather annoying piglet!). His cousin is also an imaginary character who was never made - and Baby Meadowsweet features in the episode as the baby "Daisy."
They also appeared in the My Little Pony comic, but there was no relationship there between them and Teddy. Daddy Meadowsweet (called Mr Meadowsweet in the comic), occasionally showed a different symbol or even colour scheme.
DADDY MEADOWSWEET (UK PONY COMIC)
As can be seen from the pictures below, the ponies were sold on seperate cards and though their accessories did follow a theme, they were by no means identical. All had flower picks and ribbons.
Baby Meadowsweet had an aqua flower pick and matching ribbon. Mummy Meadowsweet had a lavender purple flower pick and a magenta ribbon.
