Satin 'n' Lace

Lavender pink earth pony with pale pink mane and tail, white bells and blue ribbons symbol

There is more than one version of Satin 'n' Lace in existence, and none of them were ever sold in the UK. The one pictured above is the original (I believe) and the most common (for sure) version of the pony - the lavender release. She was originally sold with a bridal gown and accessories not dissimilar to Wedding Bells Confetti, and was sold around the same kind of time - in 1985-6. I have never had a MIP Satin and Lace so wouldn't like to say for sure if the outfit was identical to Confetti's, but it might explain why she never came to the UK, since instead the idea was used for Confetti.

Satin 'n' Lace was a horseshoe point pony and was definitely available in the North American release at least three times during the original G1 run.

The other editions are as follows:

MAGENTA RELEASE

SO-SOFT RELEASE

These are all distinct releases of the pony in question, although the So Soft's body appears to be magenta beneath the fur and this may imply that the magenta release of Satin n Lace was, ultimately, comprised of leftover ponies which were never flocked (or Hasbro saw an opportunity to double their release by varying texture). So Soft and Magenta Satin n Lace are harder to find on the second hand market than lavender Satin n Lace, implying they were released in smaller numbers in the original issue.

One insert showed a Collector Pose version of the magenta Satin 'n' Lace, and with a lighter body tone, but this does not seem to have ever been released. Instead all the versions were sold in the walking pose. There are some theories that the pony shown in the promotional image is actually Cotton Candy!

Satin 'n' Lace was initially issued without a husband, but later releases provided her with Hasbro's quintessential groom pony, Tux 'n' Tails (also known as Coat 'n' Tails). Baby Lucky was also issued in North America as the page boy to Satin n Lace's wedding party.
