1988: Twice as Fancy Ponies

BONNIE BONNETS

Pink earth pony with white mane and tail, yellow, aqua and white floral bonnets and flowers symbol spread across back and haunches, flower on nose.

Erm.

I beg Hasbro's pardon on this, but after several years of online collecting, I am still trying to work out what the heck a Bonnie Bonnet is supposed to be. Obviously it has something to do with bonnets...and obviously it has some connection with flowers. But beyond that? Nope. Sorry. Don't get it.

In true My Little Pony style, there had to be a pink pony in the set, and Bonnie Bonnets is exactly that - the archetypal pink member of the group. Possibly this made her more popular among children - or possibly her pink colour made her produced in greater numbers - but she appears to be the most common of the second set Twice as Fancy Ponies.

Bonnie Bonnets' hair is intentionally white (not faded from pink), and in a mint state should be curly, although many on the second hand market have lost their curl and several have even developed frizz as a result.

She was never sold in the UK.
