Sweetie Babies

The Sweetie Babies were a set of three sweetie (or candy) themed babies, with patterns all over their bodies, and two tone hair. They were all earth ponies, and were sold in the UK and Europe, and probably some other areas, but not North America. Each baby pony came with a hair clip designed for the child to wear (as shown on the front of the card). They were not sold with combs or ribbons.

Each pony has a different clip in tune with their names. The ponies had shared backcard stories, and no name sticker on the front (so all the cards from this set are identical). Baby Liquorice's name is often americanised online, but it was officially spelled with the British 'qu'.

The Sweetie Babies are some of the more difficult to find ponies from the European line, because of their late release. Several were still in Hasbro's warehouses at the end of My Little Pony in the UK (my sister and I had all three from new in around 1995 and 1996 from the store to which Hasbro cleared that stock. These sets seem to have had a patchy distribution in the UK, although may have been more readily available in some European regions.

The insert for 1994 shows the ponies with text in German and in English. I am unaware of any other version of insert; I think this version was universal. The ponies and the style of clips are show correctly although Liquorice's clip is a brighter blue.
