Generation One consists of a very diverse range of ponies. These
include adults, babies, water based ponies, ponies with insect
style wings, and so on. If you are completely new to G1 Pony ID,
the MOST important thing to remember is that the year on the
hoof is not necessarily the year the pony came out. Years
denote the first year a particular pose or mould was used. Many
moulds were reused through the pony line. In short, you cannot
date your pony by the hoof year.
But, you can use this as a tool to help identify them.
Most all mainstream ponies have a date on one hoof, normally a
front hoof, and normally preceded with a copyright symbol. Some
may have the whole year (1985), some may just have the year. Adult
Sea Pony tail tips have the year followed by HK or I denoting Hong
Kong or Italy manufacture. Baby Sea Ponies also have their mould
dates on their tail.
This section of the site is under construction, but bit by bit
I hope to build it up to make it more interactive and
accessible.
