1988: Sundae Best Ponies

BUTTER KISS

Gold earth pony with gold mane and tail, pink and aqua raised ice cream cone symbol.

Butter Kiss, known in North America as "Swirly Whirly", was made in a pose that vaguely resembles the original Collector Pose - although there are some quite significant differences incorporated to allow for her raised symbol. She is one of the only later ponies to try to use this pose - Hasbro had more or less phased it out of circulation by 1988.

Butter Kiss played a role in the comics. She made butterscotch from buttercups - if my memory serves -and one story once had her crop ruined by ink or something similar, and at another point, she made the acquaintance of a striking yellow cow from whom she could somehow (?!) get magic buttercup essence for her sundaes!

There was also a variation on the Butter Kiss theme, who was sold in parts of continental Europe:

BUTTER KISS : CONTINENTAL VARIANT

I do not know the reasoning behind this variation, but as far as I understand it, she was sold alongside the more normal gold haired version and she is an authentic variation. This Butter Kiss has aqua curlyish hair instead of the gold.
