1988: Princess Ponies

PRINCESS MOONDUST

Yellow earth pony with pale pink mane and tail (pink tinsel in hair), jewelled shield medallion symbol (spritz of tinsel forelock)

Princess Moondust was one of the Earth Pony Princesses from this set and, perhaps, one of the more common of the group, also - probably by dint of her pinkness. It's important to note that Moondust's hair often fades from pale pink to white or cream - and this is not a variation, simply damage.

Oddly enough, in the UK, Princess Moondust was the name of another pony - one of the Petite Ponies. Though in some respects that is name recycling, I suppose it's forgiveable since the Princess pony was never sold as part of the UK pony line. She did, however, have limited release in parts of Europe.

Like with the Sundae Best Ponies, old poses were modified for this set to accomodate the symbol style. However, unlike the Sundae Best Ponies, this worked a whole lot better for the most of the Princesses! Moondust's accessories are fairly hard to find on the second hand market, and comprised a crown clip, a wand, a ribbon and a glittering Princess comb.
