The Meadowsweet Family

The Meadowsweet Family were on sale in the UK and in Europe in 1993 and 1994. They were sold on cards translated into the relevant languages of the different countries in which it was sold, although in some areas cards were simply left in English. Each pony was sold individually on a card with their own accessories. The adults and the babies came from different assortments, as had happened with the individual releases for the Loving Families in Europe in 1989 and 1990.

Although the accessories differed between ponies, they were still on a theme. All members had a ribbon and a flower pick. There has been some confusion about the correct accessories for the adult ponies but thanks to Shivhae the above Mint on Card pictures can confirm the following as correct:

The accessories were the same across all releases. None of them were ever sold in North America.

The Family Friends and Family Babies were the only ones to have this horizontal striped hair. The Meadowsweet family in particular are prone to fading, not just because the top stripe of their hair is fading pink, but also just in general. You can actually see it a bit on my loose adult ponies, compared to the baby I had from childhood, who is not faded.

Although it's a bit blurry and old, the picture at the top of the page also shows a richer colouration for the adults (these ponies belong to my sister and are in storage at present).

The Meadowsweet Family


The Meadowsweet Family made one appearance in the television series My Little Pony Tales, where Sweetheart and Teddy visited Teddy's cousin Corny (never made) on the Meadowsweet Farm. For some reason the TV show added a sibling to each family, making the baby in each family a proper baby in buggy or crib rather than the main character. The comic did not do this, but it did also feature the Meadowsweets as a farming family.
