The Cookery Ponies were released in the UK and in most of Europe
in 1992, and their release coincided with the release of the Kitchen playset. Although no pony was
sold with this, the appearance of Cherry Sweet on the box
indicated that the set was designed for these characters. Each
pony was in the basic style, with single coloured mane and tail,
and symbols that related to sweet treats. Although they look like
a set that should have been scented, this was not the case.
Cookery Pony Apron
The accessories for this set were a basic comb and a ribbon,
and a pink apron with a velcro fastening. All four ponies had
the same style of apron.
Cherry Sweet, Mint on Card German edition, 1992 Palette: Light blue
All four of the ponies were earth ponies, although the set was
originally promoted with a pegasus, as can be seen from the insert
image below. This pony had a different symbol to the eventually
produced Sweet Delight, so it is difficult to know what to call
her, or whether she even had a proper identity. Her symbol was
gingerbread men, but the name Gingerbread had already been
over-used. She disappeared into obscurity when the set actually
came out, and the correct assortment was pictured on the backcard
(see top of page).
