Princess Sparkle
This slightly odd monstrosity came out in 1993. I am not really
sure how to explain her, except as a blob of glitter with hair and
LED lights!
Princess Sparkle was slightly larger in stature to most of the
ponies, probably to accommodate the battery compartment hidden
under her cape. (Mine has a safety label in French because I
got her on clearance in French packaging - I assume the English
one came with an English label and so on). In France she was
called Princesse De Lumiere and in German, Prinzessin Gloria.

Her cape could be fully removed, and the bow on her neck collar
could be turned to illuminate the fibres on top of her crown.

Her entire body was encrusted with glitter, which gives her a very
rough feel. Her mane and tail were also rooted with tinsel. She
is, absolutely, a Sparkle.
She was advertised on television - I haven't managed to find the
English commercial, but you can view the French one on Youtube here (external
link, not my video).

Princess Sparkle's Character
Sparkle did made one comic appearance, in a weird dream story
which Sweetheart
blamed on reading one of Bright Eyes's space book before bed.
This left her in a slightly unreal state, maybe a chimera, maybe
not.
Her box story made her far more tangible, including a story about
her being lonely and bored in the palace until her mother the
Queen invited the Seven Characters over to play. As
you do.
