Beautiful Bows

Beautiful Bows was one of the new characters released in the Hairdo set in the UK and Europe in 1993. She had long hair and two twisty plastic ties with which her hair could be styled.

These ponies came with a unique style of comb, which was a mirror as well as a hair pick. Beautiful Bows had a lavender comb. This may also have been given away as a freebie on the My Little Pony Comic in 1993-4.

The Hairdo Pony boxes claim that a ribbon is also included, but I have no recollection of having a ribbon with either of my ponies - nor is one visible in the box of those I have seen Mint in Package.

The most logical explanation for this is that Hasbro saw the bow on the end of the mane bendy/twisty as a 'ribbon' and thus a separate accessory in the release.

Beautiful Bows's Character

Because they had the misfortune to be on sale during the Tales era, this set of ponies were denied the usual appearances in the UK comic that earlier sets would have had. They never appeared in any stories, thus we have no characterisation for them beyond their combined story on the backcard, which is featured below.
