Earth Ponies (1985, North America)

The six earth pony characters that featured in this set are easily recogniseable to anyone growing up in the UK - but there were some release differences between the set sold in North America and the equivalent Groom & Style set in the UK in 1985.

They were sold on cards with the standard earth pony front design from the year before, and a changed backcard featuring all the unicorns, pegasus and earth ponies from the year's assortment on the back.

The main difference between this set and the one available in the UK was that Applejack and Bow Tie kept their shy pose, rather than changing to the Collector Pose. Both were also given curly hair. Although Collector Pose Bow Tie has curly hair, there was no curly haired version of Applejack in the UK.

There were also some accessory differences for Applejack, Tootsie and Posey, as all the ponies in the North American release were sold with butterfly brushes (in the UK, these three were sold with moon and star combs)
