Posey was first sold in the United Kingdom first as part of the 1985 Earth Pony set. Although this name never appeared on the UK card, Hasbro UK's list for 1985 classifies this group as "Groom and Style Ponies". Posey was one of the straight and silky haired ponies from the set.
Posey's pale pink hair fades very easily in the sunlight. It is not uncommon to find her with white hair on the second hand market. This is caused by UV damage and is not a variation.
Posey would be re-released in the UK in 1986 with a new look. This version also saw a European release, and she was additionally issued as part of the So Soft Release in North America. This page deals with the original 1985 release, which was sold worldwide.
In the case of Posey, accessories differed between regions. In North America, she came with a dark aqua butterfly brush, while in the UK release she had a dark aqua moon and stars comb (see MIP images below). In the UK release of the Groom & Style Set, it was normal for curly haired ponies to have butterfly brushes and straight haired ponies to have moon and star combs, whilst in North America the whole set were more uniform, coming with butterfly brushes.
Posey was a popular pony that sold well, and is extremely common second-hand.
In Europe, versions of Posey made in other places (like Spain and Italy) were also available, but these were not sold in the United Kingdom.
Posey loved flowers. She was a ponyland gardener and her garden always flourished no matter what. She had an affinity in stories with the Rainbow Pony Trickles, who shared a passion for the garden.
Posey was one of the six ponies chosen to be given a song in the "Seven Songs and a Story" record and cassette release in the UK in 1985-6.
